Remember how I'd said a while back that I really had been busy sewing? And that I was going to take a picture to prove it?
Those are all regular size notepad holders...and that's not all of them. I have another dozen or so that I've already packed up to take to one store on Sunday. The ones pictured here are a little bit higher quality...in other words, more expensive fabric, so they have to cost a little more. Here are a couple more pictures...I think some of these are SO CUTE! I LOVE cute fabric!
I've also started making these smaller notepad holders...they hold, um...smaller notepads. Yeah. Smart.
For now, I decided to start listing on Etsy. I could sell to other stores, and may do that in the future, but for now, check out my Etsy store! There's not much there yet, but I'm working on it!!!

Photo Shoot Fun
Originally written and posted June 21, 2010. I was going to post the circle skirt with ruffle tutorial, but it links to this post. So, I'm posting this one first.
I designed and made a new skirt Saturday night, and I actually finished it on Sunday morning, just in time to wear it to church! It’s a circle skirt with a ruffle all the way around. If you want, I can make a tutorial sort of thing…just let me know if y’all want that sometime! I bought this fabric back in December, when we were in Florida. I LOVE the fabric, and I was waiting to have some brilliant design idea to use with it. The brilliant design idea never came, so I stuck with this idea. I think I like it…it combines interesting features, I think. It’s a special fabric, a little shimmery, and pretty fancy. But the design is more of a prairie design. So it combines fancy fabric and old-fashioned design. It’s different..like me! :)
Sunday afternoon, I drug Dave outside to get some pictures of the new skirt. We went down to the creek and I really like a lot of the pictures we got. I will warn you…there are quite a few, and I’m putting most of them up. Just wait until you see the silly ones!
I really like the way it twirls…you won’t see me doing this at church, but it’s fun down at the creek! And can someone please tell me why I look like a peg-leg sailor??? What happened??

“Fine then…I’ll just leave.”

“Ok…I’m coming back.”

I wanted some pictures sitting down in the skirt, but when I tried to sit, Regal thought I wanted to play. Here I am trying to make him calm down, and not grab my shirt and pull me away!

He finally calmed down and sat behind me.

Dave said I looked like I smelled something nasty in this one…

At which point I busted out laughing…

And then managed to compose myself enough to get a decent picture… See the initials on the tree? We’d never seen them before…I wonder who did that and how long ago it was?

“I’m going to go sit on that stump over there.”

“Nevermind…there are spiderwebs.”

Close-up of the skirt…

Ok, I am in LOVE with the lighting in these next few shots! Who here, besides me, thinks that Dave should give up on blacksmithing and go into photography? What do y’all think?

Close-up of the fabric…

A sort of funny face…

Now, I have a really goofy looking smile on right here, but look at the eyes! I was amazed at how something made my eyes pop out like this! Wish I knew what it was…I’d do it more often! Maybe it’s the green behind me?

I really like this one…

“It’s HIS fault!”

He’s bigger than I am…or at least, his head is!

And going back to the house now…

Can you see what a crazy face I’m making here? Dave doesn’t tell me when he’s going to take the pictures…he just sits way in front of me and shoots. Sooo..we end up capturing funny faces sometimes!

And the last one (I know you’re thinking “finally!")

Ok, so I usually don’t get pictures of myself on here, since I’m always the one behind the camera, so this healthy dose should last a while!
What do y’all think?

P.S. Looking back at this now, I'd choose a different skirt design. It's funny how clothing tastes evolve and mature, I guess, over just a year and a half or so. I'd design more of a streamlined, slimmer silhouette for this fabric...would be more flatttering, too. No ruffle, either...the fabric should be highlighted, not so much a fancy design with excessive usage of fabric. :)

Where I've Been and What I've Been Doing!
Ok, I told y'all I'd been busy sewing, remember? Well, here it is:
I (being the coffee lover that I am) LOVE this one that I made!
There's a matching wallet..
These three purses are all the same style...
I dropped all this stuff off at the store that carries them yesterday. Hopefully they'll move a bit!
Since I've done so much sewing in the last couple of weeks, I'm really looking forward to a little break from that. I'm hoping to spend this week in my leather shop. I have a lot of stuff that I could do with my leather, just haven't had the time lately.
Over the weekend, we did a couple great fun things. We went to an auction here in town Saturday. The flyer said that there were some forges, so we talked Dave into going too. There was a ton of antique stuff that went for TONS of money (including those forges) so we just watched, mostly. I guess the cast iron buyers stayed home, though...I bought four skillets for $15!!! I didn't get any pictures of them yet, but they're pretty nasty. A couple cans of oven cleaner, some plastic bags, a couple weeks, and a little elbow grease, though, and they'll be great!
Mom found some buckets full of pretty stained glass that she wanted, but there was another guy who apparently had more money than he knew what do with, and he outbid her. He spent SO much that day...he was #10, and every time something went way too high, #10 was who got it.
A friend invited our family to his family's house for a get-together they were having, and we went and had a great time! They had all kinds of games and everyone brought a ton of great food!
The little kids rolled pumpkins...
Sack races...
I didn't do the sack race, but Dave and other friends did...
They tried to get me in the womens' sack race, but I was quite happy to stay behind the camera! :)
They swapped at the end and went back...THEY WON!
Then there was the egg toss.
Mom said I was eight feet from my partner when I chunked the egg way over his head...but I think we were farther apart than that. However far apart we were, I did chunk it way over his head and broke it. :(
Dave and his partner did much better! They were really far apart by the time he chunked it over HIS partner's head.
We played tug-o-war...
We were discussing proper tugging technique. No, I didn't pull with one hand.
Pulling! The guys (the shadows) were cheering us on...
Mom and Philip were watching. (Dad and Titus were sick this weekend, so they stayed home.)
The guys!
And then. Then there was the pie eating contest.
These little kids were so cute!
When the contest was over, this little guy wasn't finished. He licked his plate clean!
The big girls and then the big guys competed after the little kids. I declined, and we tried to get Dave in, but he wouldn't do it either.
Philip in the obstacle course...
I think this was the only time I hit the ball. I definitely need more practice at this!

I've had fun experimenting with the wallets...I think I have the pattern like I like it now. We'll see how they do.

Dave...
They have the prettiest cow...I was quite envious!
Then we played volleyball. It's official. I stink at volleyball!
I think this was the only time I hit the ball. I definitely need more practice at this!
Mom watched. She said it had been a hundred thousand years since she played in high school. She's aged well.
Even though I broke the egg, worked everyone else extra hard on the volleyball court, and spilled pie all over the outside of a trash bag cleaning up (didn't get a picture of that one) I had a good time. Maybe I'll get more practice at this stuff and be better next time! (Except for the pie, anyway!)
